Code of conduct

1. The supervisor must ensure an environment and atmosphere in which the athlete feels safe.
2. The supervisor refrains from treating the athlete in a manner that undermines the athlete's dignity, and from intruding further into the athlete's private life than is necessary for the jointly set goal.
3. The supervisor refrains from any form of (abuse of) power or sexual harassment towards the athlete.
4. Sexual acts and sexual relationships between the supervisor and the young athlete under the age of sixteen are under no circumstances permitted and are considered sexual abuse.
5. The coach may not touch the athlete in such a way that the athlete and/or the coach could reasonably expect this touch to be sexual or erotic in nature, as will generally be the case with the deliberate touching (or causing to be touched) of genitals, buttocks, and breasts.
6. The supervisor refrains from sexually suggestive verbal intimacies.
7. During training (camps), competitions, and travel, the supervisor will treat the athlete and the space in which the athlete is located, such as the changing room or hotel room, with reserve and respect.
8. The supervisor has the duty to protect the athlete against harm and (abuse of) power resulting from sexual harassment. Where it is known or established who represents the interests of the (young) athlete, the supervisor is obliged to cooperate with these persons or bodies so that they can perform their work properly.
9. The coach shall not provide the athlete with any (im)material compensation with the apparent intention of demanding reciprocal services. Nor shall the coach accept any financial reward or gifts from the athlete that are disproportionate to the customary or agreed-upon remuneration.
10. The supervisor will actively ensure that these rules are observed by everyone involved with the athlete. If he observes behavior that is not in accordance with these rules, he will address the person concerned.
11. In those cases where the rules of conduct do not (directly) provide guidance, it is the responsibility of the supervisor to act in the spirit thereof.
